The witness and a companion were hiking when the companion found large footprints in mud beside a field. They described three deep prints with visible toes that were larger than a boot and spaced wider than a human step, appearing to go into the field and then back into the woods. An investigator later recorded measurements of fifteen inches long by six inches wide.

Later that night the witness heard an unusually loud whoop-like sound first taken for a loon. In the morning an indistinct disturbance entering camp and a freshly snapped tree stump were found, and while hiking out the witness felt watched.

The witness hiked into the national forest in late afternoon to photograph woods and wildlife and waited near a utility clearing. After briefly seeing a juvenile bear emerge and retreat, the witness turned and noticed a large upright human-like shape close by in thick brush. A tree trunk snapped and fell toward the witness, who fled to the car and drove away, later concluding the shape might have been a Sasquatch.

The witness hiked into dense timber to scout for signs and found arches, tree breaks, and woven saplings. After hearing an unexplained sharp noise from the hilltop, the witness waited and then heard two distinct clacks described as rocks struck together. The witness then left the hill and exited the area.

The witness was walking with a dog across a frozen swamp in a woodlot when a line of bare human-like footprints with toes was noticed on ice and bare ground. The witness photographed the prints with a knife for scale within minutes of the discovery. No creature was seen, only the footprints.

The witness was walking down a woods road when three loud knocks were heard from brush to the left. The witness knocked back on a pine tree and received a two-knock reply, followed by another striking sound from the opposite side. The witness was out running and during cool down noticed possible footprints in dried mud beside a road. The impressions were larger than the witness's size 13 shoe, some showing toe impressions, spaced about 6 to 7 feet apart in a straight narrow line and sunk rather than skidded. The witness photographed the impressions but remained unsure they were actual tracks because of many nearby boot and shoe prints.

A relative found large tracks behind a horse pasture two days after a snowstorm, and the witness followed them about half a mile toward ponds, then photographed and measured them. The tracks were reported as having a 52-inch stride, toe indications and hair-like lines, with one track 17 inches long. Warm rain washed the tracks away before an investigator could view them in person.

The witness was hunting on public land in northeast Iowa just before dark when they found large single-file tracks in snow crossing an alfalfa field. The stride was far longer than the witness felt a human could manage in that snow depth, and the prints were later described as men's size 13-14 without visible toes. While deer hunting in the morning, the witness and his partner were stationed a few hundred yards apart with thick cover between them. Both men heard loud whoop-like and howl-like vocalizations along with heavy bipedal-sounding footsteps and branches breaking from the cover between them. The sounds lasted about a minute and unnerved both hunters. The witness did not enter the brush and later returned without further incident.

While scouting and then deer hunting near a river over several weeks, the witness reports a persistent foul odor, sounds of being followed, and repeated loud wood knocks. A wildlife biologist viewed the first track but considered it contaminated, and later investigators visiting the site found no tracks or signs.

Stopped at the hilltop, they noticed four large human-like footprints in fresh mud heading up the trail in a different direction from the bear. The prints were described as very large with a big toe and a few smaller toes and a long stride. Hunters in the group said the prints looked like Bigfoot prints and differed from bear tracks.
