Footprints found along snow covered road near Whiskeytown Lake
Three people riding horses in snow noticed large bare-foot tracks with toes alongside many animal tracks. The main trackway came up from a gulch, followed the road, then returned downhill, with smaller tracks joining from a steep draw. They examined the prints up close and photographed them, noting three sizes with the largest about 17 inches long.
Possible camp stalking in Jones Valley, Lake Shasta
Late at night while sitting by a nearly out campfire, the witness heard branches breaking at decreasing distances and then very heavy bipedal-sounding footsteps approaching. After waking a companion, both heard a few more steps before the sounds stopped. Nothing was seen because it was dark and the source was in trees. No footprints were searched for the next day.
Hunter sees prints near Round Mountain
The witness went alone to rifle-hunt deer and walked up an overgrown skid road beside a creek. About 150 yards up the road he noticed a large human-like footprint on the creek bank measuring about 17 inches long and 6 inches wide. He also saw additional prints on a small dirt mound that he interpreted as the maker leaving the area quickly.
Man had deer stolen by creature near Lakehead
A homeowner had shot a deer and hung it in a tree behind the house. That night while going to let dogs out, he heard an unfamiliar scream and saw a large ape-like creature in the yard. The creature seized the deer and fled into the forest, tearing out a stretch of barbed-wire fence and leaving hair and tracks. A friend visiting the next day was shown where it stood and ran, including the tracks and hair.
Large Footprints Found, Vocalizations Heard by Vacationer Near Lake Shasta
While on a family houseboat trip, the witness walked up a creek bed and found two sizes of bare human-like five-toed tracks that crossed sharp rocks and entered the woods. That night while sleeping atop the beached houseboat with a relative, both heard two loud distant resonant screams that rose high then dropped into a gargle-growl. The relative also later reported hearing heavy footsteps, breathing and grunting along the shore before dawn.
