Three companions were fishing quietly from a dock in the early morning darkness when they heard three extremely loud, deep whoops from nearby behind them. The sound was followed by a period of complete silence, then faint distant chatter described as like children from across the lake. They could see nothing in the dark and later found they could not reproduce the volume and depth of the whoops.

Late at night the witness heard prolonged rustling and crackling at the camper's tarp porch, initially thinking a bear had returned. In the morning the camp was undisturbed and a rock was found in a hammock behind the camper.

That night the witness and a relative used an electronic predator call at the bottom of a wooded U-shaped valley; after an accidental loud blast something crashed loudly through the valley. Back at the camper overnight, the witness's father heard repeated knocking all around the camper walls and assumed the younger men were locked out.

After about fifteen to twenty minutes the witness and one companion heard a loud, scream-like howl from woods about fifty yards away. The sound was described as inhuman and very loud, lasting about thirty seconds and heard only once.

They heard knocking sounds, snorting, and sounds they interpreted as a deer being killed very close by. While walking a ridge the witness noticed bent saplings and knocked on a tree, receiving clear wood-knock replies from a steep kettle below. A large living oak branch was then twisted toward the witness and ripped off, falling to the kettle bottom. Returning later with two companions, they found fresh twist damage and hand-like bark rubs with strong odor, then a young companion saw a light-colored bipedal figure and all heard a deep growl.

The witness woke around 12:50 a.m. at a family cabin and went outside to urinate because the indoor bathroom was occupied. While outside, the witness heard dogs barking frantically and then a very loud wood-like knock estimated 50 to 100 yards to the northwest. Feeling watched and frightened, the witness quickly returned inside.
