The witness was camped alone and cutting firewood at night while researching cougars. On two consecutive nights the witness heard loud, aggressive wood knocks coming from a nearby canyon, believed to be responses to the wood chopping. The knocks stopped after other campers filled the site, and the witness reported no visual sighting of the source.

The witness drove to the back of a hunting property and left the truck running while replacing an apple block and checking game trails. While squatted looking for sign, the witness heard a close guttural sound, drew a pistol, felt heavy footsteps, and saw a very large biped run about 20 yards through brush before dropping to all fours and crashing away. The witness found no tracks due to soil conditions, backed out to the truck, and drove away watching for pursuit.

The witness was walking down a road toward a parked pickup after picking huckleberries near dark. From about 60 yards away in trees downhill, the witness heard a loud high-pitched cry/scream, then after a brief pause heard it again trailing into a low growling sound. The witness continued walking briskly without running, then jogged the final half-mile to the truck and left without hearing the sound again.

Two people staying at a cabin went to the dock at night to look at stars. They heard branches breaking and a loud splash in the creek, then saw a face with large dark glassy eyes in bushes by the bank. On return they found a large dark wet spot and strong unpleasant odor near the front door.

The witness walked upstream from camp to clear a small pool to get water flowing and noticed a strong smell. After hearing movement in the brush, the witness saw a rather large creature standing on two legs in the shade for several seconds. The creature snorted, turned and walked quickly away hitting a tree hard enough to shake it, and the witness ran back to camp.

The witness, a mobile [name withheld], was repairing a truck's driveshaft at a clearing construction site on the outskirts of Brownsville near a wooded river area. He felt watched, heard brush snapping and movement followed by grunting, noticed wildlife sounds stop, and smelled a strong musty wet-dog and fish-like odor. After a rock struck the dump truck bed, he emerged with a firearm and found large foot-like depressions estimated at 18 inches or more. He finished the work and left without ever seeing the source.

On three mornings the witness tried to approach the source with a flashlight, but the sounds moved uphill toward the ridge without any brush noise heard.

The witness and a younger relative parked and hiked toward a beaver dam meadow. The relative heard knocking sounds and then saw a tall hunched hair-covered figure with striking yellow eyes watching from the treeline, while the witness smelled a strong odor and the dog barked and kept looking back. The group walked back to the truck without running while hearing twigs snapping behind them, and later wondered if they had disturbed the animal while feeding.
