The sounds changed in character and moved toward the western edge of the property. The witness went to check the horses afterward but saw nothing unusual.

The friend also reported hearing something throwing objects around a treestand, and sounds described as wood hitting trees, sticks being thrown, whoops and screams. The witness and three companions were spending the night in a tent in a backyard with a small fire when they heard grunting or snorting noises for about 15 minutes. They then saw a tall hairy upright creature along the tree line at the edge of a harvested corn field for about 20 seconds. The creature looked toward them and then ran into the woods amid falling limbs and other noises, frightening them so they went inside.

In September 2003 the witness and a hunting partner were coon hunting at night in a cornfield in Ohio with two hounds. The dogs went silent and their radio trackers gave no signal, then something large circled the men in the corn with audible running and heavy breathing. A large amount of foul-smelling clear slime splattered onto the partner, and the men retreated to the truck to find both dogs cowering underneath, unwilling to load.

In the evening the witness walked east of camp, noticed a strong foul smell and heard vegetation breaking nearby before running back to the group. Overnight the campers were awakened by sounds around the camp followed by a loud crash, and by morning the food hung high above ground was gone, the supporting limb was damaged, and a foul smell lingered. The group then packed and left the area.

He heard a long shriek/howl followed by multiple short bark/grunt sounds lasting about 90 seconds in total. His dog woke for the final seconds and stared into the darkness, and the forest had gone silent just before the calls, which he judged to be about a mile away.

The witness was driving north on Hwy. 101 to visit a friend and pulled onto a wide spot to let faster cars pass. While stopped with the passenger window open, the witness heard an extremely loud scream and then saw a tall, dark-haired, muscular creature a few feet from the car. The creature took a couple of large steps toward the redwoods, went around a tree, and disappeared into dense brush. The encounter lasted only a few seconds and left the witness badly shaken.

The sounds seemed to come from BLM land across the street from the witness's house in a pine forest area and did not match familiar local animals. From a rooftop perch the witness watched a tall dark figure by a school bus that looked toward him, crouched, then ran away, accompanied by strange howl-growl sounds from dogs nearby.
