When he switched on white light at about 15 feet the eyes rose to about seven feet with a bark-like grunt, then vanished. From the stand he watched one taller and one smaller eyeshine peek from behind a tree until a neighbor's vehicle lights approached, when they crashed away loudly through the woods.

On early mornings before work the witness repeatedly heard bird-like chirps and whistles around his house. On one morning he heard a chirp near the house answered about 20 yards out in the cornfield. He did not realize the significance until later after listening to reports of similar sounds.

Later that night in a shared tent they heard heavy footsteps and sniffing between tents, followed by dogs attacking something, one dog later found killed, after which the group was ordered off the property.
