At age 15 the guest was fishing alone at a creek near his father's house when he heard whoops and saw a large hairy figure behind a sycamore. He confronted it with a .22 rifle, and after it growled and roared he shot it in the throat, then in the hand, then multiple times in the chest as it screamed, broke saplings, and ran straight through a barbed-wire fence across a hay meadow. Later that day his father found broken trees, blood and hair on the sycamore, and blood and hair on the broken fence wires.

From close range the witness heard loud owl-like vocalizations that shifted into screeching and tongue-clicking sounds from different directions. After daylight the witness photographed numerous tree breaks, bends and X-shaped formations in the surrounding woods.

After two researchers visited, played guitar, and threw rocks, a recorder left in the guest-house garage window captured about 30 minutes of baby-like crying, moaning, and hitting that sounded like pinging on glass. The crying recurred sporadically for nearly a week. The witness ruled out a human infant due to January cold and midnight timing.

Three separate visitor groups noticed a large unseen mover: the son-in-law heard something charge through the forest while stargazing, the sister-in-law heard a large animal run in daytime, and strangers saw movement off the trail. Game cameras captured possible high eyeshine and a night video where the background distorted as an unseen shape moved toward a tree stand.

The daughter, staying in the guest house, felt a loud ground thud vibrate the floor and sofa, heard loud metallic banging at night near farm implements, heard walking in the woodline each morning that stopped at the fence, and felt hits on the bedroom wall opposite her head that repeated when she resumed a movie. Searches found no one.

A year or two before the interview, the husband sat pre-dawn near a primitive boat ramp about two miles away waiting for daylight. Something next to him sounded like a Louisville slugger hitting a tree. He sat motionless until daylight.

Alone, the husband boated eight miles up a river, padlocked the boat, and camped. After falling asleep he heard large splashes like rocks hitting water, then excited monkey-like gibberish chattering. Too afraid to leave the tent, he slept with a gun across his chest and never returned.
