As a boy about thirteen or fourteen, a neighbor hunted from a hackberry limb with a single-shot 20-gauge and saw a four and a half to five foot monkey-like animal moving hunkered with head side to side. When it winded him it locked eyes, showed teeth and came toward him making noise. He shot it in the chest, heard a thump and monkey-like screaming and rolling, then ran home firing behind him while his father heard the screaming from the house.

Two weeks after the porch scream, the same friend went before daylight to a blind for opening gun season. In the dark he heard loud grunting, growling and huffing from the fence row that did not sound like cattle and seemed massive and upset. After it quieted he found a fresh-broken branch ten feet up and the branch thrown twenty yards into the field, and has not hunted since.

A solo camper on the Buffalo River on a February night heard a weird howl around ten to eleven pm. The writer links it to the same spot where another person reported a tree snap and sighting.

Four young campers at night saw a tall slender silhouette approach within forty to fifty yards of camp. They first thought bear, then heard it grunt and heard it walk away with long strides.

A hunter saw a Bigfoot standing on a cliff above his truck and shot it, causing it to fall. Growls, howls and tree breaking closed in, something pulled him from his truck door, and he was later found dead with his legs folded back. Tracks of many sizes were reported around the truck.

The writer and at least one other person visited the dam overlook at a reservoir construction site after dark. They heard a similar howl and whoops and thought they saw something duck behind a stump about one hundred yards away, then left.

The writer returned with three companions in two cars and parked to illuminate the creek area. A very loud long-lasting siren-like howl began nearby, one companion shouted to leave and fired a pistol downhill, and both cars fled to a lit parking lot in a nearby town.

The witness retells a childhood story about a European couple bicycling from Memphis who camped where the Hatchie meets the Mississippi. A hunter next morning found shredded tent, scattered clothes and blood, then authorities allegedly arrived, shooting was heard, and a helicopter lifted something huge under a blue tarp.
Whoop
Around 1 a.m. while on her front porch, the witness heard whoop-whoop two or three times, then small rocks clanked three or four times. She interprets it as a young Sasquatch passing behind her house.

A few years later while living with her aunt near the same creek, the witness's father and uncle heard something outside, went out with a gun and fired. They said he hit it, saw blood and heard yelping, but the bleeding stopped and it was not found.

At age five the witness went with her mother, sister and cousin to swim in a shallow creek. They found huge three-toed footprints, smelled a terrible odor, and saw brown hair snagged on a limb, then heard growling chasing them on the far bank as they fled to the car.

After moving to his current road, the witness walked outside and saw a figure sitting and swaying across a clearing where vegetation had been knocked down. He hurried back inside. He reports hearing very heavy footfalls as he left.
