The witness and two companions were camping at the same forest campground where relatives had reported loud calls the previous weekend. After an evening hike and unsuccessful knocking attempt, they were stargazing around the campfire. They then heard two sets of rapid knocks from one direction followed within seconds by two howls from another direction, which they recorded. The camp was otherwise empty, with the nearest other campground miles away.

The witness drove a companion by ATV to a high switchback at sunset so the companion could get phone reception, then stepped away to give privacy. Hearing a deep warning growl from a tree cluster between them, the witness drew a sidearm and moved to get between the companion and the sound. While doing so, the witness watched a very large, fast, hair-covered creature cross open growth to reach the trees, after which it went silent, and both left promptly.

The witness took his family camping on the eastern shore of Cougar Reservoir. In the middle of the night something large approached on two feet from a hill, and he placed himself between it and his family while his partner moved the children to the vehicle. He fired warning shots, experienced distorted hearing and an intrusive thought, then saw a very tall wide black figure stop at the wood line about 12 feet away before he backed to the vehicle and left.

Late at night at a yurt near a creek, the witness stepped outside and heard loud hooting/howling from across the creek. The sound was heard two more times from inside the yurt, and later the witness saw a faint outline duck behind trees on the hillside. The next morning a partial muddy footprint with hairs was found leading toward the yurt door.

Two adults sitting by a campfire late at night heard loud high-pitched screaming whoops that seemed to surround them and grow closer. They retreated to their truck, honked the horn, and listened for several minutes as the sounds moved farther away before tearing down camp and driving out. The witness and a companion were sleeping in a trailer at an RV park when loud unintelligible calls woke them. They listened for about 25 minutes as the sounds moved rapidly around the park perimeter and at times came very close to their trailer, causing fear. They looked out the windows but saw no person or lights. The sounds stopped after a car arrived with flashlight users, and nothing further was heard that night.

The witness and his wife camped at their claim in Fiddler Gulch over the weekend of June 15, 2008. On several mornings and evenings they heard the same paired cracking sound, like a branch striking a tree, with about two seconds between beats. There was little wind, and the wife suggested expanding or contracting burnt trees as a cause. An investigator later suggested the sounds could have been wood knocks, citing unusually tame deer lingering in camp at the same time.

The group apologized, left tobacco, and departed without investigating further because of the children.

From about 50 feet away in the woods he heard four evenly spaced wood-on-wood knocks, then saw a large bush shake and heard a low animal-like growl. He watched for about 30 seconds before walking away, with nothing further happening.

Moments later a baseball-sized rock landed where the witness had just been standing, with no visible source. The pair then heard loud wood-on-wood impacts first ahead on the hill and then behind them, which they could not explain. They reported no sighting, odor, or footprints, and nearby hikers with dogs showed no unusual reaction.
