Two people hiking toward Franklin Falls heard three or four loud, high-pitched wailing screams echoing off the surrounding mountainsides. Despite extensive outdoor experience in Washington, neither recognized the sound and both were badly unnerved. They turned around, returned to their car and drove away, feeling watched on the way back.

The witness was drift-fishing alone at a river bend while a relative fished out of sight. After hearing a repeated striking sound, the witness looked across the river and saw a large dark bipedal figure repeatedly lifting a fish overhead and striking it on a rock. After watching briefly the figure carried the fish away toward the woods, and the witness reeled in and ran to tell the relative, who suggested it was another fisher and did not investigate.

The witness and two dogs were walking through a field to check for salmon when an extremely loud hoot-like sound stopped them. After a second loud call they fled toward the house while a third call sounded from behind. They reached the house in terror and later listened from the backyard with a relative but heard nothing further.

The witness and a companion camped overnight near a pond without making noise. In the middle of the night the pond frogs stopped croaking and a loud whistling and clicking sound continued for about 15 minutes. The companion suggested the sound was a Bigfoot.

The witness and a relative were walking in dense woods when they heard large, heavy bipedal footsteps on the other side of a dirt mound. The footsteps approached to within a few feet, stopped for several minutes, then resumed and moved away. As they left the area they noticed a strong ammonia-like odor.

In 1983 the witness was camping and was awakened around 11 p.m. by loud screams repeated every 15-20 seconds that approached through brush. The witness then saw a tall dark shape about 7-8 feet tall striding through undergrowth and yelled, after which it veered to go around and continued on screaming. A foul odor was noticed as it passed, and broken branches were found the next morning.

While hunting at dawn in the Nestor Peak area in fall 1982, the witness watched a smaller hairy biped notice him, scream and crouch to hide. A much larger similar animal then approached, touched the smaller one, and stared at the witness while breathing heavily, before the two walked uphill. A third slightly smaller animal joined them at the ridgetop and all three disappeared over the hill into the canyon.

The group heard heavy pacing footsteps in the woods that stopped when they stopped walking and resumed when they walked. They then heard a loud howl described as having two simultaneous tones, after which the whole group ran to their vehicle and drove away.

The witness was sleeping in a tent at a lakeside campground with family around 1-2 a.m. when heavy rapid footsteps passed the tent, paused at the picnic table where faint silverware clanking was heard, then left the campsite. The witness was walking back to his camper after hunting when he heard heavy footsteps and waited on the road. An upright bear-like figure appeared in an opening, faced him and froze for a few seconds before turning and leaving silently. In late June or early July 1981, the witness was sleeping on the floor of a friend's home when awakened by an unusual humming and grumbling sound. She saw the outline of a large broad-shouldered figure with a muscular arm and hand cupped to look through a high upper window, which she estimated would require at least seven feet of height. The figure looked in for about a minute, then walked around the house into the woods as the humming resumed. A search the next morning found no tracks in the hard-packed dirt.

They then saw a hair-covered face peering at them through bushes a short distance away, which appeared two more times as they continued. During a nighttime military evasion exercise, the witness walked forward to look for his sergeant and heard heavy footsteps. A large dark hulking figure appeared briefly at the end of a clearing about 50 feet away and ran about 20 feet into the woods. The sergeant arrived from another angle and also reported seeing a dark form running away, and both later agreed it was not a deer, bear, human or other animal.

After a football game in 1979 the witness was with a group of high school children parked by an old dump. They heard something forcing its way through heavy brush toward the cars. Everyone panicked and drove away without seeing what made the noise.
