A party out driving with horses through a hill pass had a lead horse become unmanageable and show terror as a wild cry came from the thicket, refusing to pass. Local farmers also reported livestock depredations and peculiar footprints in snow that searchers could not resolve. The newspaper presented the story without conclusion.

The witness was sewing at home late at night when her dog showed fear and she turned down the television to hear a loud, unfamiliar screeching vocalization from very close outside the house. The sound lasted about four minutes with pauses and she was too spooked to go outside to investigate. She initially told herself it was an owl, but later comparison to owl, bobcat, lynx and cougar sounds found no match.

Three companions walking back from swimming along a forestry road felt watched and heard snapping branches and rustling paralleling their movement. When they shouted and threw rocks toward the roadside bushes, rocks were thrown back at them while growling sounds were heard and the accompanying dog barked. Frightened, they ran to a nearby activity centre and later told a parent, who suggested a bear.

The witness was visiting a relative's remote cabin in Vermont late at night when the group heard a loud, child-like screaming approaching from a wooded ridge. The source was described as moving quickly along the ridge and disturbing dogs as it passed. It approached to within about 100 feet of the porch where the witness stood with a relative, then turned and left down the valley. The only visual was a dark shape with eyeshine about four feet off the ground, and the source was never identified.

While hunting near a lake in the fall of 1970, the witness reported a strong musky odor, unusual large and small scat, rhythmic thumping with ground vibration, and a large dead tree falling nearby while alone. Over two-week periods in 1992 and 1993, the witness repeatedly heard loud nighttime sounds near a lakeside cabin, described as whistling, chattering, screams and deep thumping lasting one to four minutes. They spoke loudly to try to scare it away and judged from the loud crunching steps that it was very large and not a deer.

The witness and a hunting companion were about to start a nighttime hunt when they heard an unfamiliar loud scream. The sound appeared to move rapidly away, shifting from nearby to much farther within seconds while crashing through brush. The witness, working as a night security guard at a facility, stepped onto a rear deck for a patrol around 3 a.m. and heard an extremely loud female-sounding scream from the wooded hillside about 100 feet away. After sunrise he inspected the nearby trail and found large footprints that he measured. He later found a similar scream online and said it matched what he heard.

On a fall evening just before dusk, the witness, then a child, and the father were at their farm when the father heard a loud disturbance in a wooded valley below a field. The father took a tape recorder and walked toward the sounds of a loud growling/roaring creature apparently fighting a neighbor's dog while the child waited uphill by a feed trough. The creature was never seen because it was too dark in the woods, and the father returned uphill. The neighbor's dog was never seen again.

In March 2014 while staying at a cabin with four companions, the witness went alone to a nearby meadow after dark to look at stars. The witness heard bipedal footsteps approaching up the slope, called out twice with no reply, and the steps paused then stopped at the lane edge. As the witness walked back past that spot, brush shuffled as if something turned to watch, but all companions were still inside and had heard nothing.

The witness was scouting for turkeys in spring on the southern side of Jacks Mountain when turkey-like clucking from dense brush drew him closer. Each time he approached, a very low guttural growl came from the brush where nothing could be seen, stopping when he backed away while the clucking resumed.
