Bowhunter finds twisted trees, tracks, scat, & unusual sounds

The witness was bow hunting in coastal second-growth forest on the morning of September 1, 2001. After spooking a doe that abruptly reversed direction, the witness heard whooping and screaming sounds followed by a large tree falling, plus heavy bipedal footsteps. The witness found large ground impressions, snapped limbs and treetops, hair high on a tree, and very large foul-smelling scat, and documented damaged trees with photos and attempted casts.

The witness was riding a bicycle through a farm field in the afternoon when they spotted a large hair-covered creature about 300 feet away moving toward a cornfield. The creature stopped upon noticing the witness, looked back, then ran down into the woods, stumbling and making a grunt-like sound. The witness rode home to report what they saw, but their relatives did not believe them.

Over two nights a group of five gathered outside on the property for hide-and-seek and heard strange noises. The husband and a companion went to investigate and saw an entity 50 yards away hiding between two silos, noted for goldish reflective eyes, with a second smaller similar entity present on the last night. Tracks with reported measurements were found where they investigated.

The witness stopped at the roadside by a lake shore before dawn while commuting to work and noticed a strong musky odor and a woofing sound. A tall dark-haired entity stood up beside the witness, shook a small tree, made a squealing bark sound, then strode past onto and across the road into pines as a truck approached. The witness immediately left the area.

Around midnight in September, the witness was walking between facilities when loud growl-to-scream vocalizations began from a creek bed about 300 yards away. The calls repeated 10-15 times over 15-20 minutes while the source seemed to move nearer, farther, and side to side. The witness brought a neighbor outside so both heard the sounds, then returned to the cabin and kept weapons close. A next-day search of the creek bed found no tracks or other sign.

Bowhunters report unusual encounters in the South San Juan Mountains

A bow hunter located his downed elk after dark and heard a large heavy animal moving nearby in brush. The animal circled him and stayed close despite shouting, then seemed to follow him as he hiked back to camp. After retrieving a handgun at camp he heard footsteps again and rushed toward them, hearing something crash away. The next morning he returned to find the elk carcass untouched.

The witness and companion were camping in a tent at Clark Fork campground. After 2 a.m. they were awakened by very loud, long screaming sounds from the river direction that lasted about five minutes. About an hour later the witness heard a loud metal bang interpreted as a bear-proof dumpster lid being lifted and dropped in the closed, unoccupied loop.

Fainter similar calls then answered from a different direction, suggesting two sources calling back and forth for about 20 seconds. Dense fog prevented any visual confirmation when the lights were turned on.

The witness and two family members were settling to sleep in a recently purchased cabin late at night. A loud, shrill scream was heard from just outside the thin door. The witnesses, who described themselves as experienced outdoorsmen familiar with local animal sounds, said it matched nothing they knew. Nothing else happened that night and no tracks were found the next day.

The witness and companions were camping overnight in a rock quarry and standing around a campfire talking when loud screams were heard from the side of the quarry. The screaming continued for at least ten minutes, at times seeming more intense and closer, and one youth locked himself in a vehicle. Later that night the witness awoke to more distant screams. The witness later felt a sound on a Bigfoot sounds page matched what was heard that night.

Two companions lay awake in their tent late at night when they heard footsteps from the woods behind them. They then saw the shadowy form of a tall hairy figure leaning out from behind a nearby tree. One witness twice leaned out with a flashlight, causing it to hide, and after the second time they heard it run back into the woods while nearby horses sounded uneasy.

Three people went by car into a heavily forested area in the early morning to be alone. About half an hour after arriving they heard rustling followed by a loud bellowing scream. As they ran toward their car, the main witness reported seeing the front of a tall dark figure about seventy feet away and hearing it flee into the woods before the group left quickly.

A group camping in the Sierra foothills was awakened before dawn by prolonged loud screaming vocalizations occurring in repeated series. The sounds began at 4:45 a.m. and continued for about 20 minutes, with additional shorter series afterward and again around 6:30 a.m. from a different direction. Six campers heard the sounds, which the reporter felt resembled reference recordings and were not known forest animal sounds.

The witness was visiting relatives at a farm bordering national forest with three relatives when they went to sit on the front porch at night. They heard a continuous eerie calling sound that rose from low to higher pitch with a human-like quality for several minutes from near a pine forest a short distance away, while dogs barked and the surroundings were otherwise quiet. None of the group had heard such a sound before, and the witness interpreted it as possibly from a yeti. No visual contact or physical evidence was reported.

On the first night while awake in the tent they heard coyote-like sounds, a long moan and loud wail, and a guttural growl. The next day on a deer trail off Trail 21 they noticed several vague human-like footprints in firm ground but took no casts or photos. Weeks later the reporter felt the night sounds matched supposed vocalizations heard on a television special.
