Man describes possible sighting during childhood in Hinkley Basin
Two boys were riding bicycles down an old fire road when the witness slowed for mud and saw a dark brown man-shaped figure step from behind a redwood. The figure ran down a steep slope toward a creek while the witness heard two-footed steps on leaves for about two minutes. A companion riding behind also glimpsed the figure.

A large unseen presence to his left breathed deeply, walked through vegetation rather than around it, and paced him, stopping and moving with him. After sitting down in a tree stand, the hunter heard an intense low roar from behind that he could not see because of tree limbs. About fifteen minutes later a second similar roar came from the front left. He waited about an hour before leaving for his vehicle and never used a tree stand again.
