They saw a tall hair-covered figure standing just beyond a six-foot fence staring at them. After a few seconds they ran back inside frightened. A large, unseen growling animal breaks large branches as it moves quickly up a hillside
The witness and a companion hiked about five miles up a creek to fish and felt they were being watched as the forest went unusually quiet. During an afternoon thunderstorm a lightning strike hit across the creek, after which they heard a growling or grunting sound and branches breaking high in trees moving rapidly up the creek and mountain out of hearing. The witness briefly saw a large shadow moving in the woods but nothing conclusive, and they could not search for prints because a fire from the strike caused evacuation.

During night infantry training, the witness and three other Marines were dug in atop a hill when they heard rocks rolling as something climbed toward them. A very large, wide figure with long arms and a pointed head stood up within a few feet of them, remained briefly as they watched in fear, then walked between their positions and disappeared over a hill behind them. The group confirmed afterward that all four had seen the same thing but agreed not to report it at the time.

Activity reportedly ceased after two counselors left to seek medical help for an ill child.

The family was finishing work at their bee yard in the evening when the father noticed a man-like figure standing by a tall stump. A very loud yipping yell was heard twice, the family dog reacted fearfully, and nearby coyotes fell silent. The figure loped away with dangling arms and long, sure-footed strides, and comparison to the stump afterward led the father to estimate it at about nine feet tall.

During the night they were awakened by huffing, shuffling and prying sounds as something circled and probed the cabin walls. The witness walked alone at night up a gravel mountain road toward a cabin after retrieving a wallet in town. Something unseen below the road in steep brush kept pace, breaking branches and dislodging rocks, stopping when the witness stopped and moving faster after rocks were tossed at it. Before reaching a bend where the road met the canyon, relatives arrived by car and the witness got in and left.

The witness was hunting with two friends and hid alone in berry bushes to startle them. While waiting, the witness smelled a strong odor and saw a large hairy biped stand up nearby and walk away through thick brush, hearing snapping and leaf crunch as it left. The witness ran to the friends and later returned with them to find a squatted feeding spot and small broken trees.

On a Sunday night, repeated shrieks were heard in brushland where a roughly 10-foot-tall grotesque man-like figure was reported. Large prints measuring about 14 to 17 inches were found nearby over the next two days and were followed through a subdivision, park and camp area. A law enforcement leader later described the tracks as shoe prints made before a light snowfall and suggested a mountain lion as a possible source of the noises, while noting fresh lion tracks and no cabin break-ins.

In a flashlight beam they saw a bipedal figure handling the dogs, throwing one, which then turned toward them and fled into trees with crashing brush and a lingering odor. They left the area that night and heard the vocalization again from farther off while packing.

The witness, then a teenager, was riding with his brother and a friend in an old pickup checking irrigation on his father's walnut ranch when they spotted a tall hairy biped moving through the orchard. They chased it by farm roads as it ran uphill diagonally across a 40-acre block, stopped to watch it pass close by, then followed it across more blocks until it crossed a road and disappeared into dense brush on a neighboring property. Afterwards they inspected its long strides in wet ground and decided not to tell his father for fear of losing their irrigation job.
