Four people were camping around a campfire at Rocky Fork Lake in July 2004 when a large animal came from the woods to the south, circled the campsite three times at close range, and ran toward the lake emitting a high-pitched howl and pig-like squeals before running behind the camp. The group later noticed smeared foot impressions at the site, but rain had obscured detail and no identifiable evidence was preserved.

The witness was driving with a companion on a highway at night when they encountered an animal in the road near a road-killed deer. They braked hard, and the animal stood up from a squat, moved to the roadside, looked at them briefly, vocalized, and left into the woods. Both occupants briefly got out, felt watched, pulled the deer carcass off the road, and left.

On a winter evening at home, the witness went outside with the dog and heard prolonged loud howling he did not recognize. He brought his wife to listen, and they later heard what sounded like two separate sources calling from across a gulch while neighborhood dogs barked. After comparing internet animal sounds they felt the howls most closely resembled an alleged Ohio howl recording, but a later check of the area found no tracks.

After a distant howl earlier in the evening, an extremely loud combined growl-scream-roar erupted from very close behind trees. The group fled to a vehicle, waited, then extinguished the fire together and never returned.

He switched on bright boat headlights and saw a very large, dark, hairy ape- and human-like figure at the tree line about 20 to 30 feet away that looked shocked and tried to hide behind a cottonwood. The witness panicked, pulled anchor and fled, later revisiting to estimate the figure was at least a foot to a foot and a half taller than himself with massive girth.

The witness and a companion spent the day fishing and prospecting near a dam and spillway while feeling watched. As light faded they walked back toward their car, sensing something pacing them unseen and stopping when they stopped. After reaching the dam road in darkness, the witness saw one large dark form and two smaller forms move around the spillway and up a hill, then heard them make repeated guttural, sentence-like sounds in response to a shout before disappearing over the ridge.
Hiker Hears Loud Vocalizations and Thumps
The witness sat near a swamp waiting for frogs to resume and heard rapid deep thumping from a hillside across the swamp, followed by a second similar series some distance away on the same hill. Shortly after, a short constant hollow call came from each thumping area in turn. The witness stated the sounds were not woodpeckers and asked whether such thumping indicates proximity.
