Backpacker hears possible vocalizations near Mt. St. Helens
The witness was on a solo multi-day backpacking hike near Mount St. Helens. Around midday on the first day, deep whooping calls were heard coming from the canyon direction over about 10-15 minutes. The witness described the tone as unusually deep and resonant and unlike known animal calls.

After hearing a strange scream they rode back, passing cattle bunched together and vocalizing. In the morning they found a large heavy bag of food had vanished without a trace.

Late at night the witness and a companion stepped onto the back porch with their dog to let it out. The dog ran to the fence barking, and after the witness waved a glowing phone display to locate it, both people heard a strange broken cooing sound from the treeline and fled inside. The next day the witness noticed a heavy bench tipped over, fence slats pushed in from the woods side, and neighbors looking at the forest edge.

Two hikers heard heavy footsteps while hiking a forest trail and later found broken trees and hair caught on a bush. As they headed back near dark, a rock was thrown across the trail and they heard screaming/whooping sounds and later a low grunt/growl. The witness was picnicking with relatives near a lake when the group heard an unfamiliar scream. A child began crying and the group prepared to leave. One relative said she saw a tall figure walking in the distance, after which the group hurried to the car and went home.

The witness visited a pine forest site three times in the early morning. On the first visit he heard heavy footsteps retreating, smelled a skunk-like odor, and saw a rock thrown into water. On later visits he heard loud repeated calls and low moans, heard footsteps approach to within about 15 feet without seeing the source, had a large stick thrown near him, left food and recorded vocalizations, and noted indistinct footprints and large broken trees.
Resident hears thuds outside, strange calls
The witness was getting into bed at night when she heard heavy thud sounds outside, followed after a pause by prolonged calling sounds in repeated patterns that she did not recognize as dogs or coyotes. Opening the window amplified the sounds and woke her husband, and the sounds continued for about 45 seconds until passing trucks passed and they stopped. She then went onto the darkened porch but heard nothing further.

A couple stopped at sunset in a pullout beside a stream to eat and fish for the night. The witness heard loud crashing in brush near the truck, faint low growls from across the road, and later loud splashing from a drainage, while the companion reported finding very large, deep footprints in mud by the stream. Neither saw the source of the sounds or tracks, and they left the area feeling something large had stayed hidden nearby.

In early June 2006 around 1 a.m., the witness arrived home from work and parked by the woodline near the driveway. After exiting the vehicle he heard loud howls and ape-like grunts from the woods that he perceived as very large and threatening. He shouted back, heard closer howling responses suggesting two animals, then retreated backward to his house with a firearm. He watched from inside but reported no further sights or sounds.

The witness was camping and stepped a short distance from the tent at night. In very dark conditions the witness felt watched and noticed a strong unfamiliar odor, then ran back to the tent. From the tent the witness heard large heavy footsteps and brush crashing as something left the campsite.

The witness and two relatives walked barefoot down a road near their campsite late at night to listen for sasquatch. They repeatedly heard crunching and twig-breaking sounds in the bushes that stopped when they stopped. When the witness shone a small flashlight into the bushes, they saw two large green eyes 20-30 feet away that then ducked down out of sight; the companions did not see the eyes.

The witness and a companion were awakened at home during the night by a series of long, loud piercing screams coming from across the road. After several minutes the screams were followed by quieter whoop sounds from closer to the house. A dog in the house growled at the sounds but would not go outside.

Shortly after 1:30 am the witness was awakened by aggressive barking and went to the porch to investigate. He heard heavy bipedal footsteps, loud screams and howls that approached rather than retreated, and fired shots into the ground. He later heard repeating groups of three heavy knocks and was shadowed along the fence for over an hour without ever seeing the source, leaving him and the dogs shaken.

Three companions were gathered at a pond bonfire late at night when one walked back toward the house alone with a shotgun. He reportedly saw eyes staring down at him off the trail, shouted, then fired all six rounds at close range before fleeing in fear. Later the reporter heard a single very loud prolonged scream from that area followed by total forest silence, and a brief morning search found almost no blood and no clear prints.

They heard several loud splashes from rocks hitting near the boat and then saw a huge upright figure in shadows on the ridge that growled. The figure tore a large limb from a pine and carried it down toward them as they motored away, and they returned at daylight to examine and measure the limb.

While tending the fire in the early morning, she heard distant loud howls lasting several minutes, which were followed by distant dogs barking.
