The witness was deer hunting from a ground blind at daybreak when a loud grunt and stomp were heard from behind. Turning, the witness saw a tall brown hair-covered human-like figure in brush nearby. The two observed each other for about 30 seconds before the figure turned and walked away.
Wood knock near Clover, South Carolina (2022)
The witness was walking in a power line cut in the early afternoon when loud wood-on-wood knocks were heard from both sides of the clearing, seeming to answer each other. The witness also found a large grassy bedding depression with a very strong unfamiliar odor nearby. No other witnesses were present.

The witness was camping overnight with two companions. After the group made a howl and a growl, they heard chatter from across the parking lot followed seconds later by a wood knock from farther away in the same direction. The witness answered with two wood knocks using a stick but got no response.

The witness and two companions were stopped on a highway in an isolated forested area after their car broke down. They heard three long howl-like vocalizations that they said did not sound like coyotes or cows. The area was unusually quiet with no insect sounds.

The witness was searching for relics with metal detectors in a swampy coastal area when separated from two companions. He reports hearing two loud deep ape-like whoops followed by stick-against-tree impacts about 100 yards away and then again farther toward the river. Shining a headlamp toward the sound caused it to stop, and it resumed after the light was removed. About two weeks before reporting, the witness was walking along Highway 17 at night to and from a store. On the return trip beside a wooded creek, something moved through the brush and seemed to follow, stopping when the witness stopped. In a partially lit spot at the woods edge the witness saw a reddish, long-haired, ape-like creature squatting with its long arms forward.

The witness and a companion were at home late at night when they heard loud, deep, rhythmic calling from the woods behind the house. They described at least three separate voices calling back and forth and moving closer over about two hours, while dogs cowered and cats hid and other night sounds stopped. They could not identify the sounds as known animals and later felt they resembled whoop recordings attributed to Bigfoot.

The witness was hunting feral pigs from a stand on a dike in a South Carolina swamp in the late afternoon. He heard loud, rapid ape-like 'ooow' vocalizations from the swamp behind him, after which other animal sounds stopped and wildlife fled. He left the stand before dark and later reported finding no tracks on the soft sandy road.

It left the porch with loud footsteps and slapped windows at the back of the house. The guest armed himself with a rifle, stayed in the hallway all night, and moved out the next morning.

Late at night the witness heard loud walking with dragging footsteps downhill near a path and, with a parent, approached and fired shots without deterring it. After returning late from out-of-town work in summer, the witness received a neighbor call about a large black figure behind the house. Grabbing a handgun, the witness ran around the house and saw a furry massive figure moving through bushes. A running chase followed across fences, a ravine, garden and barn path to a creek and hill, where the figure pulled away uphill and vanished.

Three college roommates hiked to the Thompson River to fish and camp overnight. After dark they repeatedly heard a childlike crying sound from a nearby ridge, had small river stones tossed into camp, and later heard loud knocks alternating with the cries. At daylight they hiked out, noticing concentrated scat and disturbed ground near oak trees, and concluded the activity was not from a person.

There he encountered a tall, hair-covered figure pulling at the pen wire, which turned to face him before fleeing toward the forest. A relative who ran outside also saw the figure running away. No physical evidence remained the next day after an overnight thunderstorm.

The witness and a relative were on their deck at night when their dog barked persistently at the woods edge. The witness approached and found a crouched hairy animal that then stood upright on two feet and ran into the woods, knocking down trees amid screaming. The group fled inside with children, and the next day found hair, footprints, and disturbed garden produce in the woods.

A driver stopped to help two motorists whose car had left the road after swerving to avoid a large hairy creature chasing a deer across the road. While fetching a rope from his truck to pull their car out, he walked directly into the creature standing behind his truck. He noted a foul smell, red eyes, and a low growl before it walked to the woods edge and then into the woods. He then helped move the car and continued his trip, shaken by the encounter.
