A reddish, bulky bipedal animal stood, looked toward him, then walked quickly uphill out of sight. He also heard deep grunting, left camp early, and said the encounter challenged his prior skepticism.

The driver turned around and approached on foot with a flashlight, then saw a large dark-haired animal stand upright about 30 feet away in a borrow pit.
