At age eleven while staying with family friends on a farm, the witness went for an evening walk on a dirt road with an older family friend. After deer burst from nearby woods, a very tall dark bipedal figure roared loudly and charged through brush toward them, causing them to flee to the car and drive away. Wildlife officials later suggested a bear, which both witnesses rejected.

The witness drove to a wildlife management area for an evening deer hunt and climbed into his stand. A frightened doe hid beneath the stand, then a very tall, black-haired, human-faced creature appeared, stared at him, growled when he aimed his rifle, and exchanged shrill whistles with another individual nearby. The witness fled on foot to his truck, fired a warning shot, drove away, and saw a large black hand reach for the tailgate and a second creature standing with the first.

The witness was sitting camouflaged on a hillside in the early morning while scouting and hunting. From across the valley he watched a large hair-covered biped feeding on the ground for about fifteen minutes, at times standing alert to listen. After an unseen uphill sound, the creature made a metallic ping call and walked away bipedally along a cleared fence line.

The witness heard screaming and went outside after his wife ran indoors. A very tall ape-like male stood with its back to him looking over a six-foot fence toward a feed hopper he had moved. It turned, screamed, grumbled and clicked its teeth, then walked under a high limb before the witness left for the house.

Two children testing walkie-talkies in dense woods noticed a dark-faced figure watching them from behind a fallen tree. After several minutes of it shifting position and studying them, they backed away, saw it rise and place its hands on the trunk, then screamed and ran. They heard a loud crack and glimpsed the black, powerfully built biped running away almost silently.

The witness went out early in the morning to feed rabbits and heard movement in dense brush. A dark, man-like figure covered in black hair was seen at close range; it swayed, appeared to study the witness, and started to approach. The witness ran to the house without hearing any sound from the figure.

On the second evening at dusk while walking armed along a dirt road, they encountered a very tall dark-haired bipedal figure standing on the road watching them. After a brief staredown the figure turned and walked unhurried into the forest with heavy breaking-branch footsteps, and the next day large footprints were found leading away across a creek.

In the late 1970s to early 1980s, residents around the Big Muddy River reported a foul-smelling, hairy hominid-like creature. Witnesses described seeing and hearing it near the river and finding footprints, with size and color accounts varying. The witness was seated in a high tree stand on family hunting land on the opening day of deer season. Two large hairy creatures ambushed deer on a game trail, killing two does instantly by breaking their necks. The larger creature then approached the stand, smelled the witness, looked up and vocalized loudly while touching the stand and holding a deer, then both left silently into the woods. The witness was left in shock and had to be carried back to the cabin by his father.

The witness was hiking with companions through woods toward a familiar spring when they noticed a large dome-shaped structure woven from vegetation beside a water-filled fire cut, with a partially consumed deer carcass inside. Shortly after examining the carcass from across the cut, the group heard movement and saw a very tall, muscular, reddish-brown hair-covered being standing in the open about 30 to 40 feet away. The being emitted an extremely loud, escalating scream that the witness felt in the chest, then lunged toward the group. The group fled back along the trail without looking back until reaching near home, and did not report the event to family at the time.

Years later while working in law enforcement, the witness drove to a remote trailhead to pick up a fire-watcher ranger during a dry fall with active forest fires. Concerned when the ranger did not appear after dark, he walked up the trail with a flashlight and rifle and found the ranger hiding by a rock. Together they watched a tall, long-armed figure with large reflective eyes at the far edge of a clearing for an extended period before it crouched, raked grass, backed into the woods, and circled away crashing through brush. The ranger later said he had already encountered the same figure on the trail, where it screamed at him, caused him to drop his kit, and threw his bag, which was never recovered.

The witness was waiting above ground while two companions explored a pit, sitting reading in a jeep in a grassy clearing. He noticed a dark form moving in the treeline and called out, thinking it was the landowner, then moved to a power-line opening for a clearer view. The figure paused and stared for about 10 seconds, appearing as a 6-7 foot tall biped covered in long dark brown fur/hair, before walking away into the trees.

A very large hair-covered biped ran from behind a house toward the woods, then rushed to the road edge, stared with glowing eyes and made a loud growling sound. Two people sitting in a cemetery after dark heard something approaching down a ridge and through trees. A tall white hair-covered human-like figure stepped over the fence, crossed the cemetery, then noticed the witnesses and left quickly over the opposite fence into timber with loud crashing. The witnesses reported a very strong unpleasant odor during the encounter.

In the summer of 1979 the witness and a companion had pulled off the road east of Seneca when they heard a loud shrieking growl. A large human-like animal approached their vehicle in bounding steps. The witness shouted for the companion to get in, locked the doors, and fled at high speed, remaining frightened and avoiding that road afterward.

A large grayish hair-covered animal lunged into the ravine close in front of the adults, paused to look at them, then leaped out and ran toward the parked car area. The family retreated to the car with the children and saw the animal stop at the brush line in front of the car.

Two siblings were playing in a wooded valley by a stream on a family farm in late afternoon when they felt uneasy and heard a loud stick break. As they tried to leave over a fence, the reporter came face-to-face with a huge black hairy figure crouched behind a tree and screamed. The sibling also saw the figure standing fully erect and heard it pursuing him as both fled out of the woods to the farmhouse.
