Five men hear tree knocks, and begin exchange of vocalizations and taps while on an expedition near Estacada
A group of five hiked an old closed ridge road around midnight under moonlight. After the leader produced knocks, responsive knocking came from timber about 50 feet away where a shadowy figure was seen, and the leader exchanged sounds with it. As the group hiked back to their cars they were flanked with glowing eyes, vocalizations and rustling.

While camping overnight for an archery hunt, a witness and a relative reported hearing mumbling vocalizations and footsteps around their tent for hours. The relative reported seeing a large hand press the tent wall, and both later reported seeing large upright figures near the truck and treeline, one illuminated by flashlight. After the figures continued circling the camp, the two packed the tent without breaking it down and drove away around 4 a.m.

The witness took his family camping on the eastern shore of Cougar Reservoir. In the middle of the night something large approached on two feet from a hill, and he placed himself between it and his family while his partner moved the children to the vehicle. He fired warning shots, experienced distorted hearing and an intrusive thought, then saw a very tall wide black figure stop at the wood line about 12 feet away before he backed to the vehicle and left.

At sunset the witness and a companion were hiking along a creek when they heard singing coming from a culvert. They approached and looked through the culvert and saw the silhouettes of two ape-like creatures with glowing eyes crouched at the far end, swaying and humming. The witnesses left quickly so as not to disturb them.

Around 3 a.m. the witness claims a large animal walked through the group's camp from dense cover while everyone listened. The witness deliberately stayed quiet to avoid provoking it. Later the campers compared notes and one said he had seen a human-like silhouette at the time they all heard the animal.

Four youths went hunting past the guest's camp on a logged area near Estacada. After feeling uneasy in young fir trees and hearing a loud snap near a brush pile, they noticed something pacing them in brush. About 100 yards from the paved road they saw the head and shoulders of a seven-foot dark silhouette between poplar trees at sunset; it shifted its weight, confirming it was solid, and they retreated to the road.
Scream in Oregon (1980)
In May 1980 [name withheld] and a friend skied at night up the closed Highway 242 toward Middle Sister to claim the season's first summit entry. They were followed for hours by something screaming, breathing heavily, breaking branches and circling on two legs, forcing them to shelter in a road grader. After it left they found large human-like tracks with toes crossing a creek and in the woods, then abandoned the climb and skied out.
Camper has night sighting near Crater Lake
The witness was camping with relatives south of Crater Lake and sleeping alone in a tent at night. While lying in a sleeping bag, the witness heard footsteps approach from the wooded side and saw a human-like outline shadowed in a distant campfire glow. The figure bumped the corner of the tent, shaking it, paused as if staring, then moved toward the front where it could no longer be heard on pavement.
Lady walking with dog has lengthy, close nighttime encounter
Late at night a witness walking with a dog watched a tall silhouetted figure approach along a ridge. The dog ran ahead then retreated in distress, while the figure paused, crouched, approached closer, then sprinted to cover. Later from concealment it gave two loud screams, and next morning the witness found a line of large forefoot prints.
College students get approached by sasquatch and shoot at it
Four college geology students camping at night heard howling from a canyon and then saw the outline of a huge bipedal animal on the road in moon and campfire light. When the animal approached, one student fired a rifle several times, after which it crossed the road and moved noisily up the opposite slope through brush. A responding deputy examined the area the next day and reported indistinct impressions, small pushed-over trees and long uphill strides, but no blood or fur.

Five boys were camping in a wilderness area when loud screams approached their camp late at night. Something circled the camp on two feet for about half an hour while wailing, as the group hid terrified in sleeping bags. As it left, two or three of them saw a huge hulking shape moving away in moonlight.
