Four friends were setting off fireworks late at night in the cabin driveway. They heard a loud scream and then a longer, deeper roar from the wooded ridge across from the driveway. A large birch log was thrown from above over their heads into the driveway, prompting them to run inside and lock the doors.

Four young hikers ascending the backside of a mountain sensed something following, then saw a small ape-like figure peeking from trees. After two hikers fled and the others followed, the creature circled them, vocalized, beat the ground and threw sticks before leaving when shouted at.
