The witness took his family camping on the eastern shore of Cougar Reservoir. In the middle of the night something large approached on two feet from a hill, and he placed himself between it and his family while his partner moved the children to the vehicle. He fired warning shots, experienced distorted hearing and an intrusive thought, then saw a very tall wide black figure stop at the wood line about 12 feet away before he backed to the vehicle and left.

The witness and her husband took two nieces to wade at a swimming hole under a railroad bridge. While the husband explored the wooded edge alone, he heard whisper-like voices and mirrored footsteps that left him uneasy. As he rejoined the group and recounted the experience, a large limb flew from the trees into the water, followed by a loud splash and grunt from the same area. The group apologized, left tobacco, and departed without investigating further because of the children.

Over following months they heard screams and knocks, found a large footprint with ridges, a distressed horse, and disturbed hay resembling a nest in the barn loft. In mid-winter the witness saw a curious dark-haired face looking in a basement window, and in spring the father returned from a short walk to grab firearms and forbid solo trips into the woods.

A boy camping with a man was awakened by cries and seized by a tall hairy figure that carried him rapidly to a thicket. They descended into an illuminated cave strewn with bones where a woman appeared. The boy escaped through the entrance with a knife and reached miners.

His friend climbed to peer inside and came face-to-face with a hair-covered, bear-like but man-like creature using a stick, then fled in terror to camp. The group stayed the night under guard and were told something large circled camp all night before they evacuated at dawn.

The witness was scouting remote mountain roads for fishing access when he found a newly placed stacked rock pile blocking the road. After stopping to inspect it, he heard something charge down the steep slope toward him and stop when he drew his pistol, then parallel him back to his vehicle unseen. He returned later with a hunting partner and heard coordinated whoops from multiple positions, and a few days later with a larger group found extensive tree damage, possible structures, and three sizes of bare human-like tracks.
