They reported hearing howls, a whoop and slow knocks, then seeing at least eight pairs of eye shine positioned around the vehicle. The witness claims a family group has visited a rural wooded property regularly for nearly two years, typically evenings to early mornings several times a week. Reported activity includes footprints, wood knocks, odors, vocalizations, trail and structure formation, and direct sightings with food exchange and close interactions. An investigator visited the densely brushed property, observed extensive trails and shelter-like spots, and interviewed the household about four to five individuals of different sizes.

He climbed a side hill and saw a still dark bear draped over a vine maple, then noticed a very large dark-brown biped standing about 50 feet away with its back turned. The creature turned and stared with red glowing eyes, prompting the witness to flee to his truck screaming, after which he refused to return to the woods and his crew left the area.

In 1977 the witness, an Army instructor at Fort Lewis, was alone grading trainees on a night exercise when he smelled a foul rotten-egg odor and heard brush rustling and branches breaking. He saw a pair of eyes staring at him as a creature moved left to right in front of him, then left the area, after which the odor and sounds stopped. He was frightened and hid, and a next-day search found no tracks.

In October 2006 on a dark evening, a relative was warming up and moving a car in the witness's front yard when the headlights revealed a tall bipedal creature with red eyes standing by a maple tree and rocking. The creature turned and ran into the forest, and the relative heard it moving through woods and then through water with an echo. A later retracing indicated the water was a large culvert under the main road leading toward an undeveloped green belt.
