Shortly after graduation the witness and three friends camped overnight in a vacant house and were tormented by whistles and loud bangs on windows all night. They found the house completely destroyed when they returned the next day. On a dusk return with shotguns they saw trailers upslope, heard the whistle again, and a large rock was thrown at them, prompting gunfire before they fled.

The witness and his wife stayed several nights in a rented cabin off Bretts Mill Road. On the first night they heard non-English chatter, found silver-dollar-sized rocks thrown on the deck and roof, and the next morning followed two large human-like tracks in snow that split and appeared to follow deer. Later the front door was found wide open despite latching difficulty, and on the final early morning something slapped the cabin and turned the locked door handle before running off, prompting them to leave at daylight.

While camped with volunteers for an archaeology project in California, the witness heard something approach her tent at night and felt it touch the tent from top to bottom. She got out to look but found nothing. After re-entering, she heard a bang by her head, concluded it had been in a tree, then heard it walk away over granite.
