The witness was squirrel hunting in the woods in the early morning. After trying to flush a squirrel by hitting a tree trunk with a stick, he moved on and heard distant knocks. He then looked back and saw a tall hair-covered figure peering from behind a nearby tree, after which he fled.

The witness and a companion were harvesting ginseng when they heard repeated unusual sounds including a low growl and a loud siren-like tone. Over several minutes they heard heavy fast footsteps and watched smaller trees shake violently while catching partial glimpses of a large bipedal creature that kept trees between itself and them. Several trees snapped and fell in the same direction, and rocks were later seen rolling down a nearby point. The pair inspected freshly broken trees before leaving the area the way they came.

The witness spent the night alone in the cab of his truck at Bear Heaven campground without a tent or fire. Around 3 a.m. a loud double whoop was heard from very close range, followed after a pause by a second similar call. A fainter similar call was heard answering from a distance. The source was not seen.

On the afternoon of opening day, the witness climbed toward a treestand set among boulders and thick vegetation. From the boulders behind him he heard a growl and rock-clashing sounds, then saw a large dark head and shoulders duck behind a boulder. He backed away to about 100 yards while watching, saw it peek out and hide again, then left the area.

The witness stopped roadside at night after hearing three whoop-like calls from downslope. The witness imitated the calls and heard a two-call reply, imitated that, then heard a sharp wood crack and a different, agitated howl. A couple hiking in the Otter Creek Wilderness became disoriented after several hours. They noticed a large dark silhouette on a ridge about 100 yards away, then heard monkey-like sounds for about 30 seconds and saw a tall thin tree violently shaken. They interpreted the displays as threatening and quickly left the area.

The witness camped overnight in a tent at a shelter along the Allegheny Trail. At dawn he was awakened by stones clacking together that moved back and forth north to south for an extended period. Shortly after the clacking stopped, he felt and heard heavy footsteps approach from behind the shelter and step on a plastic tarp beside it. He shouted from inside the tent, after which he heard no further movement.

Around 11 p.m. while eating by the campfire they both heard a very loud, long yell from across the river that started loud, rose higher, and lasted 5 to 6 seconds. The witness and two companions hiked into rugged forest to camp overnight for turkey hunting. Late at night they heard a prolonged unfamiliar howl, and a few hours later heard slow heavy footsteps approach within feet of their tent before withdrawing when spoken to. The next morning they found a large scat pile uphill and then left the area.

The witness was deer hunting along a road in the morning when he approached what he first took for a bear. At close range he described an upright, very large creature with a strong odor that noticed him, grunted, and quickly climbed a hillside and disappeared over a ridge. He reported shaking with fear and being unable to shoot despite carrying a rifle.

The witness was sitting on the front porch late at night when he heard a loud scream at a distance, followed later by crashing brush and a series of loud moans, growls and howls from across the road. Through naked eye and rifle scope he observed an upright hair-covered creature watching him, bending its knees repeatedly, then walking across the basin while continuing to watch before entering timber. He left the area quickly without pursuing tracks and reported no further incident.

The witness and a relative were sitting on a hill near outbuildings watching a hollow at night when a passing car's lights revealed a tall standing figure below them. The figure turned toward them, and after the car passed they heard breathing and running coming uphill toward them. Both fled to the nearby house and heard nothing further that night.

The witness was alone target shooting on an abandoned strip mine in the late afternoon. After emptying a magazine he heard extremely loud knocking sounds coming from downhill. He listened for a couple of minutes and then left the area without searching because of the volume and being alone.

The witness walked up the driveway after collecting the morning newspaper and paused to put hair up. On looking up, the witness saw a large tan-brown creature with short clumped fur and a hump on its back. The creature ran into the woods, the witness ran back inside, and tree banging was then heard.

The witness was descending from Seneca Rocks on a shortcut and became lost in rough rocky terrain. They heard heavy footsteps and branches cracking, then saw the back of a tall orange-brown haired creature moving uphill about 30 yards away. The creature continued uphill quickly over rocks and disappeared, and the witness returned to the trail to tell family.

The witness and two companions were backpacking and camping in a wilderness area, working to start a fire at dusk when the witness and one companion heard a loud, long howl-like scream repeated three times from far up a hollow. The witness judged it unlike any known local animal call. Later that night after the fire burned down, the witness alone heard loud stomping and large branches snapping near the creek close to camp for a few minutes.

The witness was driving south on Route 55 near Seneca Rocks late at night in rain while towing a trailer when he saw a tall hair-covered biped about 20 feet away. He turned around, shined headlights and a flashlight into the woods, then heard movement through brush, vocalizations and wood pounding for several minutes before silence. He returned the next day, found apparent footprints, and photographed them.

The witness reported seeing a tall, large creature with yellow eyes watching her companion as he placed puppies in a fenced pen on 8 October 2006. She moved her young child to the porch while her companion remained unaware he was being observed. Later that night her companion encountered something very large approaching on foot, prompting him to run inside and lock the doors, concluding it was not a bear.
