The witness was camped in a tent at a primitive site in mixed forest when, in the dark early-morning hours, footsteps were heard crunching through dry leaves off-trail. The unseen walker came from dense woods behind the tent, crossed the trail, and continued east smoothly without a light. The witness stayed still and never saw the source, but later insisted it was certainly bipedal and not a deer.

The woods were otherwise silent, and the group dismantled the blind and left soon after.

A young deer that had stayed near camp the prior nights was gone the next morning. He later speculated an animal had pushed the deer toward others waiting in the woods.

A small noise from his tree stand startled something behind the truck that ran away down a hill on two legs making loud crashing noise. From the bottom of the hill and while moving away across a road and fence, the animal vocalized about a dozen times, stopping about every 50 yards to turn and scream toward the witness.

The witness and his father took a harvested deer to another cabin at night to dress it. While the witness was cleaning the deer, a loud rising whoop followed by three shorter whoops was heard from beyond the cabin and lasted several seconds. Both men were frightened, retreated to the truck, and left soon after the cleaning was finished. A search the next morning found no trace.

A thud was heard and felt on the road and a boulder that had not been there when they drove in was found in the road. They later heard a very large animal moving away breaking branches, found no sign after sunrise, and left to hunt elsewhere.

The sounds lasted about a minute and unnerved both hunters. The witness did not enter the brush and later returned without further incident.

The witness found single very large deeply impressed tracks on two occasions, plus stick formations, flattened vegetation, long strides in leaves, and animal remains including hide on a high limb and a bloody disturbed area. A wildlife biologist viewed the first track but considered it contaminated, and later investigators visiting the site found no tracks or signs.
