The witness and three companions were spending the night in a tent in a backyard with a small fire when they heard grunting or snorting noises for about 15 minutes. They then saw a tall hairy upright creature along the tree line at the edge of a harvested corn field for about 20 seconds. The creature looked toward them and then ran into the woods amid falling limbs and other noises, frightening them so they went inside.

In September 2003 the witness and a hunting partner were coon hunting at night in a cornfield in Ohio with two hounds. The dogs went silent and their radio trackers gave no signal, then something large circled the men in the corn with audible running and heavy breathing. A large amount of foul-smelling clear slime splattered onto the partner, and the men retreated to the truck to find both dogs cowering underneath, unwilling to load.

The group then packed and left the area.

The witness was driving north on Hwy. 101 to visit a friend and pulled onto a wide spot to let faster cars pass. While stopped with the passenger window open, the witness heard an extremely loud scream and then saw a tall, dark-haired, muscular creature a few feet from the car. The creature took a couple of large steps toward the redwoods, went around a tree, and disappeared into dense brush. The encounter lasted only a few seconds and left the witness badly shaken.

The first scream was estimated about 50 yards away, with subsequent screams sounding progressively farther at about 100 and 200 yards and minutes apart. The witness described the sound as human-like but guttural with bass, offensive or warning in character, and unlike known wildlife. After looking around and firing rocks with a slingshot, they heard the final, more distant scream.
