Four young men drove late at night to find a reputedly haunted mansion and nearby infant grave. Two of them approached an iron-gated house that appeared well-kept and spoke with a very old woman in historic clothing who held a candle and gave directions using wagon trails. After hearing loud infant crying at the grave site, they drove past the house again and found it dilapidated and overgrown, though the woman with the candle could still be seen inside. The group fled and never discussed the night together again.

Six soldiers on a night recon patrol through swamp heard an unseen presence following and circling them closely for 10-15 minutes, weaving between them even after they split into two groups. Later two soldiers in ambush position heard a loud scream-roar twice, followed by the sound of a large rotten tree falling and brush breaking. The sounds then stopped and the presence was heard leaving.

At about 10 to 15 yards he saw an upright, entirely black figure walking bipedally and swinging its arms. Late at night while camping for deer season, a companion who walked over a hill to a creek reported seeing a tall figure drinking that then stood and watched him, prompting him to run back to camp. Moments later the rest of the group heard loud crashing through brush and saw the silhouette of a very large human-shaped figure with long arms running hunched over on the hilltop by moonlight and lamplight. The group then packed up and left the woods.

The pair heard movement around camp all night and the next day found freshly twisted tree limbs nearby but no usable tracks due to dry ground.

The witness went bow hunting alone in the early morning, climbing into a tree stand in a state park by a cornfield. The forest went silent and he heard loud bipedal footsteps approaching down the trail, then quiet movement stopping in front of his stand. He drew his bow and tapped an arrow against it, after which the creature fled very fast across the field as a tall dark shadow. He left at sunrise and says he never returned to that park.

Animals and birds were seen moving away from the sounds while branches were seen and heard breaking nearby, followed by a loud splash. Believing the source was upset by their presence, they left the area and the witness reports not returning to fish there.

The witness was bowhunting with three companions in two separated groups during an evening hunt. All four heard a long, deep, guttural scream coming from dense brush in a hollow below. The younger relative closest to the sound was shaken, and the more experienced hunters said they had never heard such a sound and did not believe it was a cougar or bear. No visual contact or other sign was reported.
