Alone on a full-moon night the witness heard whoops from two directions, then alternating knocks and thumps for over an hour. Loud chatter erupted from behind the car in the swamp, followed by a tree fall and final whoop. Next day a fresh snapped tree and viewing window in brush were found.

The tent-mate stayed awake most of the night hearing something walking around the woods that seemed to approach the tent, but headlamp checks showed nothing. At the Michigan house the family repeatedly heard knocks, whoops and howls. Around 2-3 AM the father saw a large black figure cross the field and road and called the sheriff. After the sheriff fled and returned with military trucks there was heavy automatic gunfire, and the father and son later found large amounts of blood and bullet-riddled trees.

The neighbor, initially a non-believer, reports ongoing hollering, screaming, grunting, monkey sounds and whistles from multiple directions. Sticks and limbs were thrown at them on a tractor, and whistles answered post-driving. The property shows stripped bark, snapped and twisted trees, a trail-camera image and a footprint at a low-water crossing.
