The witness and his wife were hiking to Crabtree Falls in July 2016 when they left the main trail to follow a creek uphill through boulders. Near the top of a 25-30 foot cascade the witness saw a tall lanky hairy figure crouched above the water with its arm in the falls. After his wife screamed the creature stood, grunted, stared briefly, then crossed the creek in one step and climbed out of sight, after which the couple left and avoided hiking for months.

Two people on a backpacking trip camped for the night and heard a long two-toned howl after midnight, followed by distant whoops over about two hours. The next day while hiking they found large deep human-like footprints crossing the trail at two gaps, with about five-foot stride, plus piled limbs in tree forks and overturned mushrooms nearby. They photographed the prints and noted a bloody stick but did not keep it.

At about 2 a.m. during a break in a storm, the witness heard something at the backyard wire fence and went outside armed with a relative. They heard footsteps and loud cracks first mistaken for gunfire and fired weapons toward the sound. The cracking was then recognized as wood splitting as a huge tree was pushed over, crashing down and shaking the house, after which the family heard loud footfalls running away.

While scouting and then deer hunting near a river over several weeks, the witness reports a persistent foul odor, sounds of being followed, and repeated loud wood knocks. The witness found single very large deeply impressed tracks on two occasions, plus stick formations, flattened vegetation, long strides in leaves, and animal remains including hide on a high limb and a bloody disturbed area. A wildlife biologist viewed the first track but considered it contaminated, and later investigators visiting the site found no tracks or signs.

The witness stayed two nights at a friend's house on a wooded mountain development. On the first night outside the house he reported paired knocking sounds, stones hitting the roof, and a brief glimpse of gray movement. The next day he found two partial human-like footprints in a steep bank near a trail. On the second night he heard more knocks and howling, then was awakened by loud pounding on the roof and walls that the host also heard.

The witness and a friend parked in a car on a wide tractor path near creek bottoms at night to drink before a party. A very large hair-covered biped took one long stride into the path about 20-25 feet away and faced the car for a minute or more, breathing heavily and flexing its fists. After a whistle-like sound from the woods, the creature made a dismissive huff, stepped out of sight in one stride, and left silently. The two men drove away and did not return.
Menacing commotion at night, tracks in snow the next morning, out Yadkinville
The witness and two companions were snow sledding at night when they heard loud noise and commotion beyond their firelight and fled to the house. The next day they returned and found very large tracks in the snow leading from and back into nearby woods, with tracks around a tree with stripped branches. They did not see the source of the sound and report no further experiences since.

About two football fields from the prior laughing incident, the witness saw bright red eyes about three feet off the ground that looked like a crouched mass. As he approached it stood to tower over him, revealing black hair, gray skin on face, chest and palms, and wide shoulders. It growl-barked, stared at him, then backed silently into the darkness and vanished.
