The witness was at home in Rainier, Washington, playing video games when unknown loud calls, cries and hoots were heard on several nights in early February 2011. Some sounds were recorded on a cell phone and a webcam left running overnight and later posted online, with relatives also hearing them. An investigator later had the audio compared to suspected vocalizations and visited the surrounding woods.

After hearing twig snaps and a huffing exhale, the witness looked up to see a tall black bushy figure about 20 yards away by a tree. The witness and a companion were sleeping in their vehicle at a forest campsite. During the night they heard something rubbing against the vehicle, knocking items over, and rummaging around camp, including toppling chairs and a canopy. The companion, while lying down, reported seeing a tall black shape pass the window and leave away from roads. In the morning the chairs were overturned and the canopy was found upside down about 20 feet away, with otherwise little disturbance and no clear prints.

They never saw the source, reported no departing footsteps, and described a persistent feeling of being watched and warned from entering the woods.

A solo camper spent the night on a plateau west of Bragg Creek during rain and thunderstorms. Through the night the camper heard log-banging, close movement, breathing, branch breaking, a tarp strike, a grunt, a boulder throw and a tree being pushed over, and glimpsed an upright figure walking downhill toward a creek. At dawn the camper heard loud bird-like calls from multiple directions, and found large grass impressions the next morning.

About an hour later on the return leg they found six fresh, very deep human-like barefoot prints with deer tracks in hard mud where they had seen nothing earlier. The witness returned to the site of a large footprint found the previous day to take photographs. He banged sticks together for about ten minutes to try to provoke a response. Immediately after one knock he heard an extremely loud high-pitched scream or roar that frightened him. He ran down a steep brushy hill back to the house without looking back.

The sound was heard two more times from inside the yurt, and later the witness saw a faint outline duck behind trees on the hillside. The next morning a partial muddy footprint with hairs was found leading toward the yurt door.
Rock throwing (2009)
The witness was fishing alone late at night near his hunting club property. Rocks began hitting the water and bank from across a flooded area about 50-60 yards away, followed by a sustained low roar that he felt vibrate. He left his gear and retreated to the lit compound, later hearing clicking like rocks banging together. About a month later he returned with a local researcher who found a pushed path through tules, a pressed circle, and a track measuring just over 16 inches.
