On-going activity experienced by a family east of St. Louis
The witness and a relative were wood-knocking in the backyard at night. After the witness knocked five times, they heard a high-pitched chatter from one direction and a grumbling sound from another direction for about a minute. Additional knocking produced no further response that evening.

Area residents hear repeated loud vocalizations
The witness reports hearing very loud howls coming from a forested area behind the home on multiple nights during one summer. Each bout lasted about 30 seconds, starting low then rising, and local dogs barked and seemed agitated during the sounds. The witness never saw the source of the sounds.
