Investigators found fresh broken trees, dozens of footprints and two nests where a trail crossed a road and staked out the spot. No creature was seen, but something large moving on two feet approached the stakeout before fleeing downhill through brush when a car passed. The sign was documented the next day with footprint and tree-break measurements and a body-length impression in one nest.
Family hears late night screams near Long Barn
The witness and family were camped in a mountain valley for deer season when loud screams were heard at night over four nights, seeming to come closer each night until only a few hundred feet away. The sound was described as a mix of a woman screaming and a mountain lion roar. The father and uncle later reported finding a footprint on a road that was larger than the uncle's foot. A group staying in a high-elevation pine forest reported repeated large footprints and strange nighttime sounds over an unspecified period. On a Sunday night, repeated shrieks were heard in brushland where a roughly 10-foot-tall grotesque man-like figure was reported. Large prints measuring about 14 to 17 inches were found nearby over the next two days and were followed through a subdivision, park and camp area. A law enforcement leader later described the tracks as shoe prints made before a light snowfall and suggested a mountain lion as a possible source of the noises, while noting fresh lion tracks and no cabin break-ins.
Campers have sighting above Pinecrest
A group camping with horses heard the horses startle something at dusk and then saw a huge brown figure about 6 feet tall running extremely fast across a meadow away from the horses in a cloud of dust. One tethered horse was so frightened it jumped over another horse. The witness concluded the figure could not have been a bear because of the sound it made and the way it ran.
