Possible encounter by young campers in their tent after hearing woodknocks near Buckley
Four friends camped overnight near a river. After a distant yelp, a companion reported seeing a large shape by the river that could not be made out in the dark. Later the two awake witnesses heard a loud knock on a tree near camp and then bipedal footsteps circling the tent, including contact brushing the tent, before the sounds moved away. A daylight check found no tracks.
Forest worker has an encounter near Mount Rainier
A forest trail worker leveling shale heard rocks clacking nearby and shouted and threw a stone while backing toward a vehicle. The witness then saw a dark brown leg and face of a creature leaning under a fir limb about 20 feet away. The witness left to get crew members, who returned but saw nothing and all left the area because they felt spooked.
Hunter hears unknown vocalization in the distance, south of Lost Lake in the Norse Peak Wilderness
While camping alone in a tent on a hunting trip, the witness heard unidentified calls over about an hour and later was awakened by movement and shaking of the tent. The witness noticed the tent had been lifted and saw a shadow pass by, then illuminated a large dark human-like figure about 20 yards away that turned and ran into the brush. The witness kept lights on until sunrise and packed up and left the next morning.
Teenage girl and her younger sister chased out of the woods near Greenwater
During a daytime rock-hunting outing, the witness and her younger sister walked down a trail past a creek. Something charged toward them from a wooded hill, crashing through vegetation while emitting a terrifying howl/growl, and the witness glimpsed a black figure. Both girls fled back to their group in tears and left the area immediately.
Sighting by campers
Two people camping near a ravine heard rhythmic steps and saw a pair of large, long black-haired legs walking across the slope about 30 yards away. The companion moved closer but dense trees prevented a view of the full figure. After relocating their tent near other campers, both were awakened around 3 a.m. by heavy pounding nearby followed by three high shrill screams.
Children have sighting near Alder Lake
Four witnesses walking upstream along a creek heard rustling that kept pace with them from across the water. They then saw a hair-covered face peering at them through bushes a short distance away, which appeared two more times as they continued. Frightened by being followed and by the creek ending in a swamp ahead, they ran back to camp and later told their parents.
