The witness and the witness's son were bow fishing in a marsh area in late morning when something dropped from a tree nearby with rustling and a heavy thud. A large dark-furred animal crouched and then fled rapidly through brush and up a slope over railroad tracks while the dog chased briefly. They saw it from behind running upright but hunched, described as bear-sized and gorilla-like, then left after hearing crunching behind them.

The witness claims to have shot an unidentified being with a BB gun. The being reportedly produced a loud scream compared to a woman's scream. The witness was with a relative at the time in a wooded area near a cement plant.
