The witness took a small dog outside next to a condemned house and the dog suddenly ran behind the witness. The witness then heard a very loud, close whoop-like call twice, seemingly from behind the house where elk bed down. The witness retreated toward the car, barked aggressively to deter it, and never saw anything.
Campers provoke wood-knocking that lasts several hours
The witness and a friend were camping late at night when they heard repeated whoops followed by beating on a tree. They knocked back on a tree, continuing the exchange for about an hour while the source sounded closer. They then heard snapping sounds described as like trees exploding under pressure, got into their vehicle, and left.
Fresh tracks found, strange birdcalls heard
Three people walking up a rainy logging road found a fresh very large five-toed footprint on the roadside, plus a second set of smaller prints and large impressions leading to and across the road. The clearest detail washed away in the rain before photos could preserve it, leaving only foot-like outlines. The group also heard very loud crow-like calls that seemed unusual in the rain.

The witness was cutting firewood in the morning when they heard heavy movement in nearby brush. A large upright creature about 50 yards away looked at them with yellowish eyes and exhaled loudly through its nostrils. The frightened witness threw a stick at it and fled without looking back, hearing what sounded like the creature running away as well.
