Fisherman describes large animal sounds in James Reed Memorial Wildlife Area
On September 8 or 9, 2020 around 11 a.m., the witness was fishing alone on the northwest side of a lake in a wildlife area. He heard chimp-like chirping from the brush less than 50 feet behind him lasting one to two seconds before stopping abruptly. He turned to look into the brush and trees but saw nothing, then quickly worked around the lake to the parking lot and went home.
Night fisherman intimidated by large rock thrown into water near Monkey Mountain
The witness was fishing alone at night at ponds bordering a wooded area when he heard a faint noise from across a channel. After he grunted jokingly in response, a large rock was thrown from that direction and splashed into the pond near him. He did not see what threw it and left the area immediately.
Bow hunter describes close encounter at dusk from his tree stand near Grain Valley
The witness was deer hunting alone from an elevated stand at dusk when deer behaved nervously. A large unseen animal approached behind the stand, breathing heavily, sniffing, producing knocks and screams, and pacing before moving west. The witness turned on a headlamp and saw a tall dark figure from behind that grunted and ran along a creek bank into the woods.

The witness was photographing along the tree line on the south side of the lake when she heard a close grunting-snorting sound followed by a deep growl without seeing the source. Shaken, she returned toward two fishermen and then left across the dam, photographing a large print in the mud. From the car area she heard the same loud vocalization coming from across the lake where she had been and saw the fishermen hurrying across the dam, after which all parties left.
Bowhunter recalls dusk encounter on creek dike near Oak Grove
The witness was bowhunting in the evening along a creek and field dike when rustling was heard behind. A large bipedal creature came over the dike, descended the near side to close range, paused to look around, then walked away along the creek out of sight. The witness reported a strong musky odor that strengthened on approach and faded as it left, and fled home after hiding crouched on the ground.

The witness walked out at night to bring food to his son and a friend camping behind his house. After seeing coyotes run past the camp, he heard a deep growl from a leaf-covered deadfall about 20 yards away on his walk back that he felt in his chest and did not think was a coyote.
