The witness was walking through riverside woods to check a trail camera when a loud, powerful yell came from about 100 yards away. The witness called back, then searched with a rifle scope and caught a brief glimpse of shaggy reddish-brown legs as the source fled through the trees. The witness reported a strong sense of dread and later said they have not returned to the area.

The witness was camping with two friends and walked alone to sit by a creek circling the camp. Across the creek he heard movement, then turned on a flashlight and saw a large hairy creature that fled into brush, shaking trees. After retreating about 30 yards it emitted a loud growling snarl, and the witness ran back to camp in panic.
Daylight sighting by two young female hikers in Jennings State Forest
Two companions hiking a trail to pick berries rounded a corner and saw a tall dark furry figure about 40-50 yards ahead moving away through palmettos, with only the upper body visible. The companion reported loud thrashing and breaking vegetation while the reporting witness recalled no sound. After about half a minute they fled the area in fright.
