The witness was fishing alone at a series of strip-mine ponds when he heard snorting, brush movement, and then loud wood-on-wood knocks that continued as he walked out. As he headed uphill to his truck he saw distant movement behind brush in dense cover. He interpreted the sounds and movement as Sasquatch warning him away, shouted that he was leaving, and drove off.

Shortly after, a much lower and longer howl was heard from several hundred yards away and repeated two or three times. Two companions suggested a Husky-type dog, but the reporter felt it was deeper than coyotes or a Husky and believed it may have been a Bigfoot. No further sounds were heard afterward.

The witness climbed up to look across a cut corn field and saw a tall slender brown shaggy figure walking along a ditch, which stepped into a ditch bank after being shouted at. They ran back to the companion's house, and the witness returned the next day to find large human-like footprints in lime dust.

The witness was fishing on the north bank of a river when a dog on the south bank barked at brush and confronted an upright, hair-covered animal. The animal knocked the dog down, emitted a ticking sound and a musky odor, then walked into the woods where the witness lost sight of it while wearing waders. The witness later found the dog with blood on it and reported seeing a taped-off police search at the site.
