Campers hear late night scream near Woodfords
The witness was asleep in a tent at a remote lake campground when she was awakened by a loud scream that rose from low to high pitch just outside the tent. She heard something heavy run away up a gravel road. Companions camped a short distance away also heard the scream, and one who went outside reported a very strong bad odor, while the witness's dog reacted strongly inside the tent.
Fisherman hears afternoon scream at Lake Alpine
The witness was fishing on a lake in the afternoon when long, deep howls were heard from the far side of the lake. Each howl lasted about 20 seconds and was repeated three or four times from an estimated quarter-mile away. The witness stated the sounds did not match familiar local mammals or bird calls. No creature was seen.
Runner Hears Unusual Whistle Near Woodsford
The witness was walking cross-country between two lakes when a loud two-tone whistle came from ground level behind to the left. The witness called out, whistled back, and searched the thick brush to within about 10 feet of the source but saw no people, animals, or birds. The source of the sound remained unidentified.
Scream near Bear Valley, California
The witness and a relative heard terrible crying/screams in nearly the same location and found a deer with a broken-off front leg that they euthanized.
