They turned back, stopped near the trees, and listened to repeated 4- to 5-second shrieks that sounded powerful and nearly human. Honking produced no change and the sound faltered then stopped after the witness shouted loudly twice, and it was not heard again on a later check. The source was not seen because it was dark and about 15 yards away at the far edge of the trees.

A friend, the friend's spouse, and a relative also heard the sounds, and overturned garbage cans were found in the mornings.
