Throughout the night the group heard bushes thrashing, repeated tree knocks, and loud long whistles coming from different sides of the camp. Counselors kept everyone by the fire until daylight, when another scout group helped them leave and police were called but reportedly found nothing.

The witness was sewing at home late at night when her dog showed fear and she turned down the television to hear a loud, unfamiliar screeching vocalization from very close outside the house. The sound lasted about four minutes with pauses and she was too spooked to go outside to investigate. She initially told herself it was an owl, but later comparison to owl, bobcat, lynx and cougar sounds found no match.

Three companions walking back from swimming along a forestry road felt watched and heard snapping branches and rustling paralleling their movement. When they shouted and threw rocks toward the roadside bushes, rocks were thrown back at them while growling sounds were heard and the accompanying dog barked. Frightened, they ran to a nearby activity centre and later told a parent, who suggested a bear.

The only visual was a dark shape with eyeshine about four feet off the ground, and the source was never identified.

Over two-week periods in 1992 and 1993, the witness repeatedly heard loud nighttime sounds near a lakeside cabin, described as whistling, chattering, screams and deep thumping lasting one to four minutes. On a fall evening just before dusk, the witness, then a child, and the father were at their farm when the father heard a loud disturbance in a wooded valley below a field. The father took a tape recorder and walked toward the sounds of a loud growling/roaring creature apparently fighting a neighbor's dog while the child waited uphill by a feed trough. The creature was never seen because it was too dark in the woods, and the father returned uphill. The neighbor's dog was never seen again.

As the witness walked back past that spot, brush shuffled as if something turned to watch, but all companions were still inside and had heard nothing.

The witness was scouting for turkeys in spring on the southern side of Jacks Mountain when turkey-like clucking from dense brush drew him closer. Each time he approached, a very low guttural growl came from the brush where nothing could be seen, stopping when he backed away while the clucking resumed. After two or three such approaches he left the area.
