In June 2008 the witness was camping and stepped into the woods behind the campsite in the early evening. After hearing a loud crash, the witness saw a dark muscular human-like figure moving quickly through brush toward a ravine about 20-30 feet away. The two companions did not see the figure, and no tracks or other sign were found the next morning.

The witness and spouse were sleeping in a family tent in a campground late at night when both awoke to loud footsteps and breaking branches. Something entered their site, brushed against the tent, and moved to mushrooms at the site edge while they shone a flashlight but saw nothing. After a quiet period it left the way it came, and in the morning the mushrooms were gone. The witness doubted bear, moose, or human explanations based on stride, sound, and lack of reaction to light and noise.

A large dark silhouette appeared at the closed bedroom window, swaying as if trying to see inside, and remained for several minutes despite the TV volume being raised. The next morning she and her daughter found large five-toed footprints in snow by the walkway.

The witness returned home in the evening and heard an unfamiliar ululating howling sound with an echo off a nearby cliff. The witness recorded about 4.5 minutes of the sound. On several mornings and evenings they heard the same paired cracking sound, like a branch striking a tree, with about two seconds between beats. An investigator later suggested the sounds could have been wood knocks, citing unusually tame deer lingering in camp at the same time.
