Two boys were gigging for fish in a shallow river at night when they heard splashing from objects thrown into the water. They shone flashlights across the river and saw an upright human-like creature bring down a dead tree into the river and move in the water. The boys fled to their cabin, and a tree not present the day before was seen in the river the next morning.

They noticed a large dark silhouette on a ridge about 100 yards away, then heard monkey-like sounds for about 30 seconds and saw a tall thin tree violently shaken. They interpreted the displays as threatening and quickly left the area.

He walked about 10 yards from the fire to investigate and saw a small dark shape dash past, then noticed a tall bipedal figure staring at him from about nine feet away for about 10 seconds before it turned and walked away silently. He ran back to the cabin and stayed inside for the night.

They went to the porch and watched a large dark furry animal low to the ground run on all fours past a neighboring home, triggering motion lights. The witness then heard the sounds, described as loud whispering resembling unintelligible foreign language or gibberish. Around 2 a.m. the husband saw a tall hair-covered biped beside their SUV and illuminated it before it ran past him over a gate into the woods. Later both heard knocks and rocks striking their tent for about an hour until a large rock tore the tent roof. Next morning they found partial prints and fresh bark damage before leaving.
Possible encounter while fishing at Kanapolis Lake
Late at night while fishing at the Kanopolis Lake spillway, the reporter noticed movement on a hill and then a large figure peeking from behind a tree about 150-200 yards away. The reporter and an adult companion watched it peek in and out for about 45 minutes, seeing red eye-shine with and without a flashlight. Near the end, the companion heard a single knock and a 3-4 second high-pitched scream from the figure's area, which the reporter could not hear over the flowing water.

During the night he heard unknown noises, a cough/grunt sound, whistles, rocks thrown toward him, and a very loud crash near his hammock. He smelled a skunk-like odor and felt watched as he packed up and left, then continued his trip by bus.

Late at night the witness went outside to feed dogs and heard three loud solid knocks followed by a long loud scream-like cry. About half an hour later after going back outside the same sequence repeated. She later found very large footprints where the sounds seemed to originate and had tracking dogs follow the scent until they stopped and refused to continue.
