Howls heard near Spokane River
The witness was at home overnight with bedroom windows open after letting her dog out when she heard a loud siren-like howl, followed a few minutes later by a fainter similar sound from farther away. She judged the sounds unlike coyote, wolf, or domestic dog and described them as a single drawn-out whooooooo that rose and then stopped. She also reported a strong trashy skunk-like odor. No visual contact was described.

Grouse hunters have possible late evening sighting near Mica Peak
Two campers hiking a logging road at dusk saw a dark, wide standing figure beside a small pine about 30 yards away, swaying side to side. They retreated to their camp in a valley. Later that night from the direction of the road they heard five or six loud screech-like vocalizations over about ten minutes.
