The witness and four family members walked a trail by a lake near dusk. After moving a large branch from the path, they found wet foot-shaped prints leading uphill and saw two dark human-like shapes lying still in the woods. They heard bipedal footsteps that stopped and started with them, then left and returned later to photograph and measure the prints and hear more steps and a breath-like sound.

The witness and a companion were camped overnight after fishing, and the witness repeatedly made loud whoop calls hoping for a reply. Around 1:30 a.m., after the companion had gone to sleep, the witness heard a single return vocalization from a roadless direction. The companion did not hear the return. The witness saw nothing and did not investigate the area.

The witness was camping with two relatives when they heard a resonant moaning wail off and on for hours. The sound seemed to move around the hillside and appeared to involve two sources calling to each other. The group searched with lights and by vehicle but saw nothing. The noises continued until the early morning when the group went to sleep.
A camper hears strange late night howls near Foresthill
The witness was sleeping in a large reenactment camp in forested hills when loud, deep howling woke him. The sounds first came from a distant ridge and about an hour later came from much closer down the road, waking many others in camp. The witness loaded his weapon before falling back asleep and heard the sounds move farther away twice more. No tracks were found the next morning.
