Hikers hear possible vocalizations near Cascade Locks along the Columbia River
Two companions were packing up after a late cookout at a park community kitchen when they heard a loud 10-second shrieking yell from a ridge across the creek. A short time later they heard a second similar yell from close behind the kitchen. Unable to identify the sounds, they locked themselves in their truck and left leftover food behind.

The witness was archery hunting on a trail at dusk after separating from a companion to go different directions. After hearing an unfamiliar deep yelping sound and then loud wood-splintering, the witness saw a head-and-shoulders shape with no visible neck beyond a log. When the shape swiveled slightly, the witness backed away and returned quickly to the vehicle, visibly frightened.
Boys hear moaning call from bedroom window
The witness and a companion were awake late in an upstairs bedroom with the window open while photographing the moon. They heard a loud, human-like low-pitched moan that seemed to rise in pitch and approach the house for about ten seconds, then stopped after the window was shut. Nothing was seen that night or found in the orchard the next morning, and the witness later felt the sound matched a recording heard online.
