Turning, he faced a much larger second individual about ten feet away and fainted, waking minutes later to find both gone, the towel missing, and a folded leaf with grubs inside his cap.

During the annual week-long elk hunt with his long-time hunting partner, the witness waited in a concealed roadside alcove while his partner still-hunted the opposite side of a brushy clearcut canyon and reported via radio a dark upright figure moving toward the witness. The figure crossed the road about 30 yards from the witness in a few silent steps and dropped into the canyon, after which both hunters left for camp. After returning on ATVs to measure a branch the figure had passed under they saw the figure standing across the canyon watching them before it walked into timber, after which they packed up and the witness stopped hunting.
