As a boy riding his bicycle home on a trail through the woods on a hot clear afternoon, the witness felt watched and then heard brush thrashing as something kept pace with him. He raced to a more open trail and looked back to see a very tall, shaggy reddish-brown creature with dark bare facial skin standing at the tree line watching him. He reported a horrible stench filling the air and an absence of normal forest sounds, saying the sighting lasted about half a minute and left him avoiding the woods for months.

The witness and a companion were sitting in a parked car at night near a creek when wildlife sounds stopped and bipedal footsteps approached. The witness attempted to drive away and briefly saw a broad-shouldered brownish-black animal moving on two legs into the creek. The pair left to get help and later returned with others.

It stood and crossed the road between the lead and middle cars, then stopped in a drainage ditch on the right where it was watched in headlights for about a minute. The figure stayed motionless and silent while the witness watched its bulk, stooped posture, one clenched hand, and eyes. After several minutes the witness went to get a rifle and upon returning the figure was gone. A search the next day found no evidence.
Whoop in Texas (1982)
The witness, then about 11, went with his father to a surveyor's home in deep East Texas and followed the surveyor's young son down a thin trail behind the house to a deadfall. The son gave whooping calls, after which the witness heard approaching footsteps, heavy breathing like a horse, a deep word-like vocalization and a powerful percussive sound, then breaking limbs. The witness fled back to the house as a tall dark figure ran alongside through the brush, stopping when he screamed for his father.

A tall, lean, hairy figure stepped into the road ahead of them, paused near the center to look toward the vehicle, then continued off the road into vegetation. The witness and the figure reportedly observed each other for about 20 minutes before the figure turned and walked slowly along the lake bank toward the treeline. The witness did not approach or search for tracks and left for their truck after it disappeared.
