Motorist has close encounter on Mallard Point Road near Lake Norfork
Late at night the witness stopped at a stop sign while driving out of a subdivision after visiting a friend. An upright, hairy figure emerged from the woods and moved quickly toward the driver's side door, prompting the witness to drive away quickly. In the rearview mirror the witness saw the figure cross the road behind the vehicle. The witness also reported a strong skunk-like and urine odor despite closed windows.
Night time sighting by two witnesses at trailhead in Shawnee National Forest
The witness and her father were walking back to the trailhead parking area at night when the father noticed eyeshine in the trees to the side of the trail about 30-40 feet away. With headlamps on, they both observed shining eyes and the outline of a rounded head that turned to look at them before they turned their lights off. The figure then walked away downhill with heavy deliberate bipedal steps, paused, and remained nearby while the witness spoke softly before they left quietly. After returning home they photographed smudge marks on their vehicle that had not been noticed earlier.

Late at night in fall 2010, the witness was at home when barking dogs prompted an investigation and a large dark figure was seen crossing the pasture toward the barn. The witness got a firearm, stepped outside, fired a warning shot and then multiple shots as the figure ran through wire fencing and disappeared into corn behind the house while a dog chased. The shots did not appear to slow it.
Possible late night sighting and activity at a home near Griffin
The witness stepped outside for a brief nighttime smoke break and noticed movement in the front yard. He turned to see the back, shoulders and head of a very large, hunched, hair-covered creature retreating behind bushes near a yard light. He could not see its face, legs or feet and later measured a nearby limb to estimate its height.

A week later he returned, found a 14 3/4-inch track showing it had circled him, felt watched, and heard a loud double whistle near the old driveway.

On November 1, 2009, the witness and his wife were camping in a public campground late in the evening. In moonlight they noticed a large, broad, dark shape about six feet tall moving on two legs among the trees near camp, which appeared to stop, look toward them, and sway. Returning about ten days later, the house was gone and replaced by a gravel lot, and a neighbor said it had been torn down four years earlier.

A shadowy fur-covered biped stood up about 30 feet away and walked calmly across the road before disappearing into vegetation. The witness was hunting deer in a river basin in the evening when he heard brush breaking and later saw movement in trees about 80-90 yards away. He left the area quickly without pursuing tracks and reported no further incident.
